Here we go again.
Aug. 8th, 2006 07:00 pmYou know, I'm tired of it all. I want out of this handbasket.
( Where I rant a little... )
Here is the e-mail notice forwarded to us on the yahoo list, without which I would never have seen this.
Dear R-MWC Alumna,
You may have heard that the Strategic Planning Steering Committee has presented a draft Strategic Plan to the faculty for their consideration. In that draft the Strategic Planning Steering Committee recommends that the College adopt a new educational platform that will strongly encourage experiential learning (service, internships, hands-on learning techniques, etc.) within a global honors perspective in a co-educational environment. This draft is a result of over two years of extensive market research. That market research was augmented by hours of research conducted by the College Faculty and Senior Staff with faculty and staff at other single sex institutions who have remained single sex, as well as institutions who have recently made the decision to become co-educational. The draft Strategic Plan is currently in the hands of the faculty, who are discussing it and will submit their ideas to the Board of Trustees for consideration over the coming few weeks. The Board of Trustees expect to vote on a final Strategic Plan September 9, 2006.
The College will be updating the Strategic Planning Website tomorrow, August 8, 2006, with a timeline for decisions, questions and answers, and other information regarding the Strategic Planning process and the draft Plan. That website will have a place for you to send your thoughts and ideas on the draft Strategic Plan. The link is www.rmwc.edu/strategicplan. For those who prefer a mailed copy of the update, please contact the Office of College Relations (434) 947-8142.
A similar message has gone to all R-MWC students including first-year students.
The Alumnae Association Board learned about the direction of the College on Friday, August 4th. The Alumnae Board members as well as College staff members have committed to personally contact as many alumnae as possible. We regret that you are receiving this by e-mail. The timing of the web update necessitates this approach.
